cnc technology

The SBJC workshop houses the latest state of the art CNC technology.

So, what exactly is CNC technology and what can it do for you and your project?

Builders and Architects know how CNC cutting has taken the industry of carpentry and joinery to the next level. It is a game changer for offering faster turnaround times, competitive prices and customer satisfaction. For clients without a building or trade background, CNC is where a computer numerical control (CNC) machine processes a piece of material to meet specifications by following a coded programmed instruction.

A rotating spindle moves on different planes allowing the tool to operate at many angles and therefore manufacture products that previously could only be attempted by hand.  This gives clients and Interior Designers absolute freedom of expression when it comes to their design concepts and a guarantee that the end product will precisely match what was envisioned.

At SBCJ our use of CNC technology enables our experienced craftsman to cut virtually any shape, including but not limited to, circles, ovals, squares, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, hearts and diamonds and any combination of these. Corners are exact and curves are smooth.

This superior cutting technique can be used to create more elaborate designs when it comes to our doors, windows, staircases and custom furniture. Fret CNC wood cutting also adds another level to the creative and manufacturing process.

CNC offers the possibility of adding unlimited decorative elements and details, including letters, stars, crosses and many other complex and intricate patterns. There is simply no limit to creating unique centrepieces for the home.

CNC also allows freedom in choice of materials. Our CNC wood cutting machines at SBCJ can be utilised for all different types of hard wood, such as Oak, Ash, Beech, Birch and Cedar, as well as many varieties of plywood, including chipboard, shutter, laminated, marine, and hardwood veneer. With all these materials a possibility, we will help you choose the one that best fits your project.

Our CNC machines process products both large, small and in series. Our large flatbed routing machine can cut pieces up to 3000 x 2000mm, to a 50mm thickness and our smallest machine tool is 3mm in diameter. This provides us with the capacity to manufacture a wide variety of products from perfectly cut windows and doors, to intricate designs on staircases and custom furniture pieces.

This computer assisted machinery ensures a precision rate of up to 0.1mm, turning the tradition of carpentry into an exact science. We really can translate the vision of our client into a reality.
